Dani Ceballos has struggled to convince Zinedine Zidane to include him in his plans at Real Madrid, which is why the midfielder has been away on loan since the start of last season.
Having spent the previous campaign on loan at Arsenal, the Gunners were successful in convincing the 24-year-old to join them on another temporary spell last summer.
Ceballos has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, out of which 15 have come in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side don’t have an option to convert the Spain international’s loan deal into a permanent transfer.
The former Real Betis man attended Cadena Ser’s program El Laguero, where journalist Manu Carreño quizzed him about the possibility of extending his stay at the north London club beyond his current loan deal. The report says the Real Madrid man’s response was ‘quite blunt’.
Although he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of extending his stay at Arsenal beyond this campaign, Ceballos made his ambition clear.
“My goal one day is to return to Real Madrid and be important in the best club in the world,” he said.
Real Madrid took the midfielder from Real Betis in 2014, and Ceballos also admitted he wants to return to Andalusia at some point in his career.
