Arsenal confirmed Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival on Friday, with the Ukraine international moving from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has mainly operated as a left-back at the Etihad, while he can also be used in the middle of the pitch.
His addition leaves Mikel Arteta with Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares as the three left-backs currently at Arsenal. That may change soon.
The latter, who arrived at the north London club last summer, could be on his way out of the club in the ongoing window.
That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who explains the ex-Benfica man is ‘getting closer and closer’ to Atalanta. The Serie A side are pushing to sign the 22-year-old and are now ‘close to the white smoke’, meaning the operation is close to being sealed.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will take the Arsenal player on a dry loan deal, without an option or obligation to buy. The report adds ‘work is underway’ to sort out the details of the deal soon. Atalanta chief Lee Congerton has handled the operation to bring Tavares to Italy.
This is also reported by Sky Italia, who explain Atalanta are working with Arsenal to make sure Tavares’ transfer can be closed soon.
