L’Equipe have another article on Olviier Giroud and France in their Thursday edition, and again it’s a pessimistic look at the player’s chances of being in Didier Deschamps’ latest squad.
The French newspaper believe that Arsenal’s Giroud will have to withdraw from the reckoning because of his toe injury. The striker has had an unforgettable start to the season, with no starts, four sub appearances, no goals, and a red card against PSG.
Giroud started a match for France against Italy earlier this month, and scored in a 3-1 victory, so it may have been beneficial for Arsenal if he went away for the next international break and picked up some minutes, but L’Equipe believe it’s unlikely.
L’Equipe say a withdrawal was the ‘the most likely hypothesis last night’ but it’s not certain, and with the newspaper saying Giroud is going through ‘a complicated period’ with Arsenal, maybe Deschamps will call him up to give the player a boost, fitness pending.
