Loaned out to Atlético Madrid last year, Lucas Torreira has returned to Arsenal, where an exit likely awaits him.
The Uruguayan wasn’t part of Mikel Arteta’s plans last year following the acquisition of Thomas Partey, and this season will be no different, meaning there is work to be done by both the Gunners and his agents to find him a new landing spot.
There are a couple of clubs who wouldn’t mind having him in their squad for the upcoming campaign, among which are Fiorentina, now managed by Vincenzo Italiano.
Corriere dello Sport look at the situation on Friday, claiming that Torreira is ‘destined to pack his suitcase again’ this summer, and he ‘dreams of Italy’, where he first made a big name for himself at Sampdoria.
So far, however, ‘beyond enquiries, no official moves have arrived’ for him.
That doesn’t mean Fiorentina won’t make their move, since he is ‘the usual summer dream’ for them, wanting him last year too, but as things stand, it will be difficult for them to financially accommodate someone of Torreira’s ilk.
