Despite everyone thinking that Fiorentina would trigger the option to buy in the deal with Arsenal for Lucas Torreira, the Serie A side walked away after some disagreements with the Uruguayan’s agent.

This has led the midfielder to return to the Gunners, where he has no future; something the player himself made very clear.

All this points to an Arsenal exit this summer, especially since he only has one year left on his contract at the Emirates.

The Gunners will be wanting to make some money from a deal, and while they know they won’t get the €15m they had pre-agreed with Fiorentina, they still want a fair chunk.

This comes courtesy of Alessio Lento, journalist for Calciomercato.it, who took to Twitter to explain the Arsenal midfielder’s situation.

He says the player ‘can become a market opportunity’ for various clubs, but only towards the end of the transfer window.

As things stand, Arsenal ‘estimate him, one year from the expiry of the contract, at about €10m’.

There’s certainly a player left in there, as he showed at Fiorentina, but a deal will likely depend on who is prepared to come forward, really.
