Monday saw various reports from Italy explain Fiorentina are interested in signing Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.
Eintracht Frankfurt have also shown interest and Gianluca Di Marzio stated the German club are trying to hijack the midfielder from the Serie A side.
That seems unlikely as journalist Enzo Bucchioni, writing in his column for Firenze Viola, says the Gunners owned player has refused an offer that came from Eintracht Frankfurt last night.
La Viola have been chasing the 25-year-old for more than a year and are now close to getting him, after the Uruguay international ‘found an agreement’ yesterday.
Mikel Arteta’s side will earn €1.5m in loan fee, ‘which will be converted into a redemption obligation next summer for €15m’. According to Bucchioni, the Arsenal midfielder should be in Florence today to undergo medical tests and sign the contract.
Torreira, who will earn €2.5m per season at Fiorentina, wants to relaunch his career in Italy, where he has already spent time in the past with Pescara and Sampdoria.
Sky Italia also state the South American is ‘one step away’ from Fiorentina as the two clubs are close to closing a loan deal worth €1.5m, with the ‘right of redemption’ set at €15m.
They add Torreira is expected to arrive in Italy on Tuesday to carry out the formalities related to his transfer to Fiorentina.
