Arsenal are moving in on Crotone youngster Aniello Viscovo, according to claims in the Italian media. The 17-year old’s contract expires with the Serie A side next summer, and the Premier League side are looking to take advantage.
TMW have reported Arsenal have made an approach for Viscovo and officials from the North London side have initiated contact. The Italian claims say Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a young goalkeeper in the summer and that Viscovo has pushed himself to the front of the queue.
With there being no signs of Crotone offering Viscovo an extension to his current contract Arsenal will be able to offer the youngster a pre-contract agreement when the transfer window opens in the new year. It’s been reported Viscovo is more likely to arrive at Arsenal next summer rather than in the winter transfer window.
The young stopper has yet to make his debut for Crotone’s senior team, and has been a regular for their U19s this season.
Arsenal interest may seem quite fortunate for the youngster, but TMW insist that initial contacts have been made. Arsenal also have a number of options in the goalkeeping department with Petr Cech, David Ospina and Emiliano Martínez already at the club.
