Arsenal sent an official to the match between Benfica and Torino last night.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo and their Thursday edition, the Gunners representatives were at the Estádio da Luz to keep an eye on the winger Gonçalo Guedes.
The 19-year-old had an average match, with O Jogo giving him a 5 rate and highlighting his movements on the pitch.
Guedes finished his first full season as a first team player with seven goals and ten assists in 2015/16. He’s becoming one of Benfica’s options for their attacking system, but still isn’t a regular starter.
As a talented Portuguese youngster who plays for Benfica, you must be wondering if he’s a Jorge Mendes client. And the answer for that question is yes, of course.
Guedes has appeared for all of the Portuguese national team youth levels (we really mean all of them, from U-15 to U-23) and already made two games for the first team.
The winger has a €60m release clause, so if Arsenal are really interested, we all know where this is going. A Mendes saga.
What O Jogo didn’t mention, is that Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for one of the player’s on show… a Torino player.
The Italian media this week have been reporting Arsenal’s interest in Bruno Peres, and it’s been claimed an offer has been submitted, with Manchester City as competition.
Peres is a 26 year old Brazilian right back, who can also play as a winger.
