As Arsenal were on the list of clubs who sent scouts to Porto’s match against Feirense last night, Portuguese newspaper A Bola says the Gunners had one special target to watch: Yacine Brahimi.

Manager Arsene Wenger reportedly has a long time admiration for the winger, and given the player’s recent rise in form, the Frenchman sent an official to keep an eye on him.

Despite hitting the post once, Brahimi couldn’t do much during the game, which ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw.

CapturarThe player wasn’t even being called up for games at the start of the season, as Porto’s idea was to sell him during the last window.

But after receiving a few chances, Brahimi ended up finding great form and became one of the most important players in the squad this season.

The Algerian international has a €60m release clause, and even though his departure to the Premier League was many times given as certain by the Portuguese press, no clubs could convince Porto so far.

Arsenal scout Porto often and that’s led to links with several of the club’s players, a lot of it through educated guesswork. The alleged long term term Wenger interest is probably based on the scouting reports.
