Earlier on Thursday, we covered a claim from Italy that Arsenal were interested in Federico Dimarco, currently at Inter.

This reinforced the idea that Mikel Arteta wants a new left-back at the club going forward, and while the Italian is an option, he doesn’t appear to be the favourite.

That man appears to be Aaron Hickey, for whom, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal have already made a first offer.

This comes from the Bologna edition of the newspaper, who look at the dealings the Serie A side could make this summer, with the Scottish defender their best bet of bolstering their coffers.

It’s said that if Hickey were to leave, a new left-back would be needed, which is when they state that €25m have been ‘offered by Arsenal’, and a ‘little less from West Ham’.

We’ll wait and see if more details come out going forward, but this would show an intent from the Gunners to sign the player early and ensure Arteta has the right tools for next season to continue the club’s growth.
