It’s well established that Alexandre Lacazette’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, and yet he could still stay.

The Frenchman has stepped up when needed in the second half of the campaign, and while Lyon, his former club, would love to have him back next season, remaining in London isn’t excluded either.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report the 30-year-old ‘will think’ with Arsenal ‘to determine whether he stays or not’.

In fact, the Gunners ‘could offer him a short contract (one year plus another)’, which is what they now plan on doing going forward with any player above the age of 30.

It’s then pointed out that Lyon ‘remain attentive’ to the situation of the Arsenal striker, who will have a big decision to make in the summer, as it will likely be his last chance for a well-paid contract.

A stay at the Emirates would guarantee him higher wages than in France, but it’s likely he’d play more back in his home country, especially if the Gunners bolster their frontline this summer.

Something to keep an eye on.
