Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal could do business in the January transfer window, and Sunday’s defeat to Nottingham Forest may encourage those in charge of Gunners’ deals to get moving.
Arsenal have been going through a good patch, so the FA Cup exit to the Championship side will have been a surprise as well as a blow.
The Premier League club continue to be the main English side linked with a move for Dusan Vlahovic, and Monday’s edition of Corriere Fiorentino covers the situation from the perspective of Fiorentina.
It’s made clear that despite widespread interest, the only offer on the table for January is from Arsenal. This time the bid is put as the permanent transfer of Lucas Torreira, who has been shining again in Italy, plus €50m.
Previous claims have put the offer at a straight €70m or €80m, and it’s clear there’s various ways to get this deal done. The newspaper, which is local to La Viola, says there’s also interest from Tottenham, Newcastle, and more distant, from Bayern Munich, PSG, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Fiorentina would like for one of those clubs to come forward and challenge Arsenal.
Regardless of all that, the player still needs to be persuaded that a January move is best, with him currently wanting to finish the season where he is.
