Arsenal’s interest in Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres is today again highlighted in the Portuguese media, this time by newspaper Jornal de Notícias.
The outlet features a story claiming the Gunners are becoming ‘more attentive’ to the striker, and an offer is ‘becoming more and more likely’.
It’s said Arsenal are impressed with the scouting reports they have on Gyokeres, and are now ‘hope to reach an agreement’ with Sporting for his transfer.
Even though Sporting have him protected by a €100m release clause, the Gunners’ attempt would be to bring that price down or include players in the deal, whether that be on loan or permanently.
There’s no specific players mentioned, but Sporting have agreed to similar before.
Gyokeres is said to be ‘very well referenced’ in Mikel Arteta’s list of potential signings for the summer window, while other clubs such as Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be interested in the centre-forward as well.
Despite a little goal drought recently, the Swedish star continues with an impressive season, with 36 goals and 16 assists in 43 appearances for the Lions. He’s the one carrying them to a potential league title.
