Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has admitted that a move to the Bundesliga is ‘always interesting’ for him.
The German defender has been at Arsenal since a £36.9m move from Valencia in 2016 but his four years at the club have not been overly happy or successful.
He has long been roundly criticised by sections of the club’s fanbase and pundits alike, leading to numerous rumours that he could leave.
This year that could become a reality as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta goes into his first significant transfer window at the club and looks to overhaul the squad he inherited from Unai Emery.
A move to the Bundesliga is often touted as the most likely, with the player having never played in his homeland after leaving HSV for Everton in July 2009.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it seems he is open to moving there if his latest comments are to be believed.
“It is difficult to foresee how the transfer phase will run in the current situation,” the Arsenal man told Bild.
“(The Bundesliga is) always interesting. Sportingly, it has undergone a great development. Besides, it’s my home.”
