On Tuesday, Het Nieuwsblad reported Arsenal follow Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga ‘most intensively’.
La Dernière Heure now state several sides are familiar with the 21-year-old’s profile, but the Gunners seem to be the ‘most interested’ in the midfielder.
The north London club looked at the player in 2019, before he signed a new contract in November of that year. They, however, haven’t lost sight of him and, ‘remain charmed by his profile’, which would suit their style.
Having finished eighth in the table and missing out on European competition next season, Mikel Arteta’s side are still looking to strengthen the squad by also keeping an eye on the future. This is where the Belgian would fit in.
It’s claimed Lokonga is ‘ready for a departure’, and his exit will also help Anderlecht lighten their salary budget since he’s the second highest earner at the club.
It remains to be seen the fee Vincent Kompany’s side will demand for the player. Although they cannot expect a high figure, an offer in excess of €10m is needed to sign Lokonga.
Anderlecht ‘need the money’, the player is willing to leave, and with the Premier League side the ‘most interested’ club a deal is there to be concluded.
Arsenal, however, have so far not made an offer for Lokonga and DH are of the belief an ‘immediate offer’ isn’t expected either.
