As has been made very clear by Mikel Arteta since the start of the new season, Mattéo Guendouzi doesn’t really have a future at Arsenal.
It all went downhill for the Frenchman following his altercation with Neal Maupay towards the end of the last campaign, and while there have been rumours of a potential departure, nothing concrete ever came up.
The closest he got to a move was when the Gunners offered him in a deal to sign Houssem Aouar, but Lyon weren’t interested in his profile.
Since then, the young midfielder has had to bide his time, but with the transfer window closing soon, he’s getting restless.
That’s what Top Mercato in France are suggesting, claiming in a rare exclusive of theirs the player’s entourage have told them Guendouzi ‘has asked the Arsenal board to let him go’ before October 5th.
However, it’s made clear his exit ‘isn’t guaranteed’ and ‘will depend on eventual offers that will arrive on the desk of those in charge in London’.
Basically, he’s asked for a transfer, but whether he gets it rests entirely on clubs making their interest known rather than Arsenal actively finding him a new landing spot.
As for Top Mercato in all this, they normally just relay news and aren’t overly in the exclusive business, suggesting they might have got a tidbit of information here.
It’s not groundbreaking seeing as Guendouzi isn’t exactly going to be thrilled with his current situation, but we thought you should know about it nonetheless.
