Having spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Real Betis, Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín is keen to return to the Estadio Benito Villamarín this summer.

Earlier this month, ABC Sevilla reported the 27-year-old is willing to take a significant pay cut to join the La Liga side.

The right-back’s deal at the Emirates expires in 2023 and he is not included in Mikel Arteta’s future plans at Arsenal.

ABC Sevilla explain the Spain international ‘may be one step closer to returning to Real Betis’ after his agent made a trip to London to speed things up.

It’s said the representative’s visit to the English capital is to negotiate the termination of his client’s contract at Arsenal. If the Gunners were to give a ‘green light’ to this, then the ‘new door will be opened’ for the fullback to return to Real Betis.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side cannot match the player’s current salary at the north London club and it has to be lowered for it to be within their wage limit.

ABC Sevilla don’t mention whether Arsenal have agreed to terminate Bellerín’s contract, but they do state parties [likely the defender and Betis] are optimistic about finding each other again.
