With both Arsenal and Manchester United set to bolster their squads this season for very different reasons, it isn’t a surprise to see them linked with the same player.
The Gunners, who narrowly missed out on Champions League football this season, will want to ensure they make the top four next year, while the Red Devils are set to undertake a massive change of personnel under Erik ten Hag.
The midfield is an area both clubs are interested in strengthening, as explained by Arsenal’s desire to sign Arthur from Juventus, while Manchester United will need someone to take over from Paul Pogba, who is set to leave on a free next month.
The latest name to be linked is Fabian Ruiz, currently at Napoli, who is said to be a player Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to get rid of, since he isn’t keen on signing a new contract.
The news that both Manchester United and Arsenal are keen comes from Ciro Venerato, a journalist for RAI, who told Domenica Sportive Estate, relayed by Napoli Magazine, all about it.
He said: “De Laurentiis would like to give away Fabian Ruiz, valued at €30m, and on him are Arsenal and Manchester United.”
At that price, it’s understandable why the Gunners and the Red Devils would be interested, but it remains to be seen if a move to the Premier League is something the Spaniard would consider, having previously leaned towards a return to his home country if that became available.
