Jorginho will be the highest earner at Flamengo if he joins them as expected on a free transfer from Arsenal.

That’s according to journalist Jorge Nicola, who provides the details on the contract being offered by the Brazilian club to the Arsenal man.

Jorginho is set to become a free agent in the summer as his current Arsenal contract expires and he’s yet to sign an extension with the Gunners.

He appears to be set for a move to Brazil rather than an extension to his stay at the Emirates, with Flamengo keen to add him before the Club World Cup.

That deal has been progressing for the best part of a month, with both sides going backwards and forwards in negotiations and Jorginho recently adding to the speculation by making a trip to Brazil alongside his partner.

That was seen by many as a sign that the deal taking him to Flamengo is practically done, despite the Arsenal man insisting he was just on holiday.

Nicola now provides details on the negotiations taking place between the midfielder and Flamengo, with the deal they’re offering a lucrative one for him.

“He has an offer of €13m gross for a three-season contract. This means that Jorginho, if he accepts the red-black proposal, will be entitled to €4.3m per year or 26.8m reals.

“Dividing by 13, 12 months of salary plus the thirteenth, and we can say that Jorginho would earn 2m reais gross.

“There is also the tax part, which would deduct part of that money. In any case, if he accepts the offer, Jorginho will become the highest paid player in the red-black squad, surpassing Bruno Henrique and Alexsandro, who earn around 1.8m reals per month.”
