ESPN Brasil today features a story about Lyon midfielder Lucas Paquetá, who’s been approached by several clubs regarding a summer move.
It turns out many of those interested sides are from the Premier League, according to the report, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all said to have made contact in recent weeks.
Despite the ‘strong approach’ from many clubs, however, it’s said talks ‘did not advance’. That’s why the midfielder is returning to France this week and joining Lyon’s pre-season preparations.
ESPN Brasil just doesn’t know how much Arsenal, Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur wanted to pay for Paquetá. That’d certainly be an interesting auction, though, since Paris Saint Germain are another club who have been interested.
According to the report, the midfielder is ‘completely adapted’ in France, feeling comfortable at Lyon, and that’s why he won’t force a transfer at this time.
The player had been heavily linked to Newcastle United this year, so it’s a little surprising to see the interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham showing up now, with the Magpies left out of the list.
