Arsenal have made a ‘substantial’ offer to Bologna to sign full-back Aaron Hickey in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Corriere di Bologna, who insist the Gunners efforts for the full-back are worth taking notice of.
Arsenal have been pulled into the race for Hickey’s signature in the last few weeks, with several reports explaining that they are keen on the player after his impressive performances this season.
Meetings are already believed to have taken place between the two clubs to iron out a potential deal, and a report from Calciomercato earlier today took things one step further.
That claimed that Hickey was ‘one step away’ from a move to the Emirates and that a deal for him could be closed in the coming days.
They threw a figure into the mix, too, stating that the two clubs have found a ‘general agreement’ for €23-24m plus bonuses.
Corriere di Bologna do not back that up explicitly but do say that the offer from Arsenal is a ‘substantial’ one. That falls in line perfectly with the sums mentioned by CM, particularly given Hickey only cost the Italian side £1.53m two years ago.
What the actual figure is remains to be seen but what seems clear is that Arsenal are keen and willing to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal done as soon as possible.
