After Arsenal sacked Unai Emery on November 29th, the Gunners confirmed Freddie Ljungberg will be the caretaker boss until they find a ‘new head coach’.

Ever since they parted ways Emery, there have been several candidates linked to the managerial job at the Emirates.

Various reports in Italy talked about Carlo Ancelotti being one of the options for the north London club.

The former Chelsea boss was in charge of Napoli from the summer of 2018, but the Serie A side decided to let go of him on Tuesday, hours after he helped them seal a berth in the next stage of the Champions League.

TuttoMercatoWeb now claims there’s been ‘new contact’ between the Premier League club and Ancelotti in recent hours. They are ready to offer him a contract until 2021 and a final agreement between both parties could be reached this afternoon.

Arsenal have turned towards Ancelotti to ‘turn the season’ as they have managed only five wins in 16 league games.

It’s worth noting TMW’s headline says ‘closer agreement’, but within the report they state ‘final agreement’ could be reached later today.
