Earlier on Friday evening, we covered claims from France’s Telefoot Chaine that Arsenal have finally made an offer for Houssem Aouar.

The midfielder has been linked with the Gunners for much of the current window, and a week ago the same source said he’s Mikel Arteta’s priority signing.

TC went on to say that Aouar is keen on a move to the Premier League club, and that the offer was made to Lyon on Thursday. They didn’t have any information on what then happened, and weren’t aware of how much the bid was. There was a suggestion it may be around €40m, but that felt like it was based on what is already known.

Now RMC have got in on the act, they report Arsenal’s offer was €35m, which doesn’t sound enough to convince the Ligue 1 side to sell right now. There’s every chance it was just an opening move from the London side, and that there’ll be further talks in the coming days.

That said, it’s worth noting that despite €35m not seeming enough, RMC haven’t explicably said the offer has been refused.
