After their failed attempts to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January, their decision to release Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s contract situation, Arsenal are going to need a striker soon.
The Gunners have been linked with a few names over the past few months, with Jonathan David among those returning time and time again.
Le10 Sport bring their latest information on the matter on Wednesday, explaining that, as things stand, the battle to sign the Canada international is between Arsenal and another Premier League club.
The team in question are Liverpool, with it said Mikel Arteta’s side and the Reds are the two avenues opening up the most for the forward.
They point out that, at the moment, the 17-goal striker is ‘one of the priorities’ for Arsenal as they head towards the next transfer window, while their Merseyside competition have merely ‘ticked his name’ for the summer and ‘are ready to position themselves’ if need be.
Looking at both squads, it’s clear one needs the Lille star more than the other, and with the player likely to want to be one of the key men in his next team, fighting for a spot in the Reds’ attack will probably be less enticing than waltzing into Arteta’s starting XI.
