Marcus McGuane started on the bench for Barcelona on Wednesday evening in the third edition of the Supercopa de Catalunya.

McGuane moved from Arsenal to the Spanish club in the January transfer window, the 19 year old taking the opposite route of several players before him.

The Catalan press have long been frustrated with Arsenal snatching players from La Masia, so the McGuane move was a nice little bit of ‘revenge’ for some.

Things could be back to the normal route soon enough, with Sport reporting Arsenal are keen on signing Joel Lopez. Along with Liverpool, Arsenal are said to have the ‘strongest’ interest in the Barcelona youngster.

The U16 Cadete A player can leave for nothing at the end of the season, and Barcelona are increasingly losing hope he’ll stay, with a renewal left unsigned.

A left back, Lopez is said to have good physical attributes, allowing him to bomb up and down the left side throughout games.

Barcelona’s efforts to secure their best young players have had mixed success in recent years, and should Arsenal be able to snatch another La Masia product away then it’ll create further frustration in Catalonia.
