Arsenal continue being named as one of the main contenders to sign Emerson Royal from Real Betis in the summer.
The claims today come from Radio Castellón, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who say the Gunners are one of the sides who plan to have the right-back for next season.
It’s said Arsenal could let Hector Bellerin leave the club in the next transfer window, and are looking for a replacement who could offer ‘full guarantees’ for the position.
Besides the Gunners, Villarreal are reported to be in touch for the signing, as they’ve already contacted Barcelona to know more about the player’s situation.
Mundo Deportivo recalls that Barcelona and Real Betis made a joint deal to buy Emerson from Atletico Mineiro two years ago. After two years at the Seville side, the fullback is heading to the Camp Nou this summer. That’s why the negotiations are handled with the Catalan club.
The outlet adds to the report that other clubs such as Bayern Munich, Milan, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in the Brazilian as well. With Barcelona going through a complicated economic situation, there’s the chance to cash in with the sale.
Still, it isn’t said how much Arsenal or the others would need to spend to sign the 22-year-old.
