Arsenal and Liverpool are back being linked to Sporting fullback Nuno Mendes.

The 18-year-old has been mentioned a lot during the transfer window, with the Portuguese press claiming there were several European giants looking for him.

Newspaper A Bola is the one who brings this story back today, saying the player has become an ‘European attraction’ following his first games for Sporting.

They write that Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus and Milan are all ‘attentive’ to the teenager, with his name ‘circulating in the corridors of some powerful European clubs’.

A Bola writes that Sporting are only letting Nuno Mendes go in one case, and that’s if his release clause is triggered.

That would cost these clubs €45m.

There was a time in the transfer window when Manchester United seemed closer on getting him, especially because he has the same agent as Bruno Fernandes, but now it looks like Arsenal and Liverpool are stronger suitors to take the player to the Premier League.

Either way, if they are interested, they’re going to need to find a lot of money down the back of the sofa to achieve it.
