Empoli midfielder Samuele Ricci has ended up in the sights of Arsenal and Leicester City, if reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the Serie B side’s youth system before getting himself promoted to their first team in September 2019.
After making 28 league appearances last season, the teenager has two goals and four assists in 29 Serie B matches this campaign.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Gunners and Brendan Rodgers’ side have their eyes on the Italy U19 international, who is considered ‘one of most interesting talents’ in his country.
TMW state information that ‘comes from Tuscany’ suggests there’s been contacts between the teenager’s entourage and the Premier League duo.
It’s claimed the likes of Arsenal and Leicester are attentive of young talents, which is why they have had talks about Ricci with his agent, Federico Pastorello.
The two English clubs are considering the concrete possibility of securing Ricci’s services, given the limitations imposed on securing work permits post Brexit.
Napoli are also linked with the Serie B player and Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi addressed the recent rumours around the player.
“Samuele Ricci to Napoli? We talk too much about him and if we talk too much about young people, it’s not good. We need to protect them. I was unable to protect him, now just say a half word and the boys arrive in half an hour,” Corsi told Radio Marte.
