On November 13th, AS carried a report on Dominik Szoboszlai and explained the clubs who have shown interest in the Red Bull Salzburg star.
Arsenal were named as one of the suitors for the midfielder and the report stated ‘Mikel Arteta likes him a lot’.
The 20-year-old scored a late winner for Hungary in their 2-1 victory over Iceland in the qualifier play-offs and his strike helped his country make it to Euro 2020 next summer.
Szoboszlai’s stock has only been rising after his impressive displays for club and country, as he continues to draw attention from the likes of the Gunners, Real Madrid, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and a few others.
Saturday’s edition of AS has another report on the Hungary international and they explain the La Liga winners’ interest has made him ‘calmly’ make a decision on his future.
Leipzig courted the player ‘intensely’ and although he didn’t ‘dislike’ the option to join the Bundesliga club, Szoboszlai has decided to be ‘patient and continue listening to offers’ because ‘every time he has more proposals’.
It’s claimed the Serie A side knocked on his door in January and the north London club did the same in the summer.
The Red Bull Salzburg star’s entourage are ‘very cautious’ and more so after Real Madrid ‘entered the scene’.
According to the newspaper, Szoboszlai has a €20m release clause with the Austrian club reserving ‘an extra percentage for his rights. A small amount that could raise the sale to an amount between €25m and €30m’.
Arsenal will clearly face tough competition and it’ll only be more intense if Real Madrid’s interest to sign Szoboszlai remains firm.
