Over the past few months, there have been repeat claims in the Italian media discussing Arsenal’s interest in Dušan Vlahović.
It has been stated continuously the Gunners are willing to offer €70m to Fiorentina, with some even adding Lucas Torreira could be included as part of the deal. The midfielder is on a season-long loan deal with the Serie A side.
Local newspaper La Nazione claim that ‘within 48 hours’, the north London club are ‘ready to formalise’ the proposal to sign the striker. The news could come in the form of an email.
It’s again stressed the offer from Mikel Arteta’s side for the 21-year-old should be around €70m. The Premier League club are also willing to offer the Serbia international a five-year deal worth €19m per season, along with ‘maxi-commission’ to his agent.
Arsenal have ‘decided to dive into the operation’ in the winter market, probably for two main reasons, say La Nazione.
The newspaper suggest Arsenal are aware Vlahović has other suitors and they could knock on Rocco Commisso’s door to present an offer any moment. The other reason could be the Gunners may not want to wait until the end of the season.
Arteta’s side might want to convince the player quickly, so that they can use the rest of the January window to ‘bring the negotiation to an operational and concrete level’.
If and when Arsenal make a proposal, then ‘everything will depend on whether and how Fiorentina will evaluate’ it and how Vlahović would react to the offer. Unless the latter two agree for the transfer, a deal is unlikely to take shape in the winter market.
