With 11 goals scored this season, including those against Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has been drawing the interest from several sides.

The Portuguese media often comes up with stories naming new clubs who joined the race for the 22-year-old, and as we now see a report from Uruguay, there seems to be a one more Premier League side who want the player.

According to Traspasos, Arsenal are keen on signing Nunez as well. The outlet claims that the Gunners are alongside Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the battle for his transfer.

It’s said that Benfica ‘wouldn’t accept less than €40m’ for the player, even though it isn’t made it clear if that would be a price for the winter or the summer window.

Darwin Nunez is currently protected by a release clause of €150m, and recent reports from the Portuguese media have been saying that he’d only leave in January in case someone shows up with that amount.

Speaking of a potential summer move, it’s been recently said that the Eagles would like to break their transfer record, which is of €120m.

That seems to be a quite unlikely for now, but also shows the Portuguese slant on Benfica’s stance, while this new report from Traspasos claim he’d cost a lot less.

As we wait and see who’s right, Arsenal better be sure of the big competition they have for his signing, and with claims they are prepared to break the bank for a striker, such as Vlahovic, this could be one to keep an eye on.

After all, they’ve backed Mikel Arteta so far, so they could do so again.
