With Mesut Özil finally heading off to Fenerbahçe, Arsenal brought in Martin Ødegaard to add a bit more creativity in a struggling attack.

The Norwegian has taken to Premier League football like a young duck to water, not quite setting the world alight but doing enough to show the move wasn’t in vain.

There has been a lot of talk that Arsenal would like to keep the Real Madrid loanee, but that appears to be rather difficult, if the latest reports are to be believed, meaning they could end up looking elsewhere.

While Houssem Aouar was a target in the past, it appears the Gunners have now turned their attention to one of his former teammates, Nabil Fékir, currently the star of the show at Real Betis.

The France international has rekindled his form with the La Liga side, to the point where Manchester United and Liverpool are now reportedly interested, and Estadio Deportivo believe we can also add Arsenal to that list.

The Spanish website explain that while there are ‘many great teams’ who would like to sign him, there are ‘especially two very interested’ in the London side and Barcelona (via their president Joan Laporta).

Fékir currently has a €90m release clause in his contract, which is a high fee for both clubs, and we’ll have to wait and see whether or not Betis end up being stubborn about it, but one move the player has made can be seen as potentially pointing to him wanting out in the near future.

Estadio Deportivo explain that despite spending years without an agent, the playmaker has decided to ‘put himself in the hands of Promoesport’, an agency based in Catalonia.

That doesn’t mean they’ll favour Barcelona, but it’s clear Fékir has something in mind, perhaps in order to avoid the issues he faced when trying to sign with Liverpool.

Perhaps a good sign for Arsenal as well?
