Barcelona signed Malcom from Bordeaux before the start of the season and he was their most expensive addition of the summer.

So far, he is yet to start in a competitive fixture for his club and has been restricted to six and 19 minutes off the bench against Real Valladolid and Leganes in the league respectively.

Catalan newspaper Sport claims the Brazilian’s limited playing time at Camp Nou has alerted clubs in the Premier League and Unai Emery’s Arsenal are one of the ‘most interested’ sides in the winger.

Lionel Messi suffered an injury in his side’s 4-2 victory over Sevilla and is reportedly set to be out of action for three weeks, meaning he will miss the two Champions League fixtures against Inter Milan and El Clasico at home against Real Madrid.

It should be seen whether Ernesto Valverde will include Malcom in the Argentine’s absence and the report claims that his transfer would depend on the 21-year-old’s ‘evolution’ at Barca.

If the former Valencia coach decides against including the wideman despite Messi’s absence, it could be an indication to the player that he is not included in his manager’s plans at the club.

That would give Arsenal and others a chance.
