Arsenal are following Grêmio youngster Vanderson, according to reports from Brazil.
Journalist Jorge Nicola reveals on his Youtube channel that the Gunners have been monitoring the 19-year-old’s development at his club.
Arsenal reportedly got in touch with the player’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, and told him they are interested in the youngster.
The teenager has been standing out for Grêmio in his early appearances for the first team. He only has 24 appearances as a professional and has been the club’s first choice for the right-back position in important competitions such as the Brazilian League and the Copa Libertadores.
Nicola makes it clear there are no offers for now, since Arsenal are only evaluating Vanderson’s potential at this stage.
Grêmio announced this week that Vanderson has agreed to a new contract with the club. The deal which would have expired in 2024 now runs until 2025, and his release clause was doubled from €50m to €100m.
Of course the wonderkid wouldn’t cost anything close to that, but that’s a sign that the Brazilian side are well protected in case they decide to hold him.
