On Wednesday evening, Germany’s Bild reported Arsenal are keen on Lukas Klostermann of RB Leipzig.
The 22 year old is a very versatile defender and can play across the back four, with Bild saying Arsenal would try to ‘lure’ him.
Interest from the Gunners looks very much like a Sven Mislintat plan, with the super-scout continually looking towards Germany to see what he can find for the Premier League club.
But Arsenal interest goes back some way, and Arsene Wenger was the man behind earlier claims.
In 2016 the same German newspaper reported Wenger was ‘hot’ on the player, and claimed Arsenal had made it clear to ‘the environment of Klostermann’ that they were very interested.
Nothing happened on that route in the end, and Klostermann continued developing with RB Leipzig, but his file may well have been dusted off by Sven at Arsenal.
There’s no claims of talks or contact this time, so in that respect the claims don’t seem as advanced yet as they were in 2016.
