Negotiations between Arsenal and Inter Milan over a move for midfielder Granit Xhaka ‘have not yet taken off’ ahead of the January transfer window.
Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to Italy, with it believed Inter boss Antonio Conte has him on a list of potential options to enforce his midfield.
A potential swap deal with Christian Eriksen has been mooted to boot as Inter are desperate to get rid of the Danish midfielder after a disappointing year at the club.
Inter Dipendenza cover the situation today and say that negotiations over a potential deal are yet to get underway between the two clubs.
According to their information, sources close to Xhaka have ‘excluded’ any ‘concrete interest’ from Inter in the Swiss midfielder, whose future at Arsenal could be dependant on that of Mikel Arteta.
Any talk of a swap deal with Dani Ceballos ‘will never take off’ either because the Spaniard is still owned by Real Madrid and only on loan at Arsenal.
As far as Arsenal’s interest in Eriksen goes, the website says they are ‘interested’ in the Danish star, but at the moment a swap deal with Xhaka is not the way to ‘close the deal’.
