Arsenal’s chase for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodríguez is detailed in a story featured by Mundo Deportivo today.
The report says the Gunners ‘are going’ for the signing of the 26-year-old in the summer, after doing a big scouting job on his season in Sevilla. They ‘intend to push hard’ for the signing.
Arsenal are said to be disappointed with the season of Thomas Partey, who was signed from Atletico Madrid in a €50m deal last year, and now want another player for the position.
So with Rodríguez standing out at Betis and the Gunners having scouts monitoring him closely ‘for months’, he’s become the target to go after.
Mundo Deportivo says Betis are in need of sales, and Rodríguez’s transfer would result in a big profit. They only paid €3m to sign him from Club America in January 2020, and could now make a lot more money.
The outlet doesn’t say how much the Gunners would offer for the player, and point out he’s currently protected by a release clause of €80m. Since the Spanish side only have 75% of his rights, they need to take that into account when negotiating.
Besides Rodríguez, Arsenal are said to be keen on other Betis players as well, but Mundo Deportivo doesn’t bring any other details on that.
