Christopher Nkunku won’t be moving to Arsenal today, unless something changes very quickly.

It’s not PSG holding back the deal out of a need to have the player in their squad for the season, but rather the complications involved in getting the transfer done.

That’s what L’Equipe report on Thursday evening, saying Nkunku going on loan to Arsenal, with a purchase option, was just ‘too complicated’ for the Gunners to get over the line due to the club’s financial restraints during the current window.

There’s no clarity on whether that’s down to loan fee or the amount Arsenal and PSG would agree on a purchase option for the summer, but if it had just been an option, rather than obligation, then it wouldn’t have impacted upon the club’s finances right now.

Unai Emery is said to have ‘really wanted’ the young midfielder, someone he valued during his time in Paris, but right now there’s no agreement, and L’Equipe sound pessimistic about that changing.
