Arsenal are ‘fully committed’ to a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and could spend the €150m required to get him.
That’s according to SportBILD, who report that Arsenal are one of several major sides in Europe tracking the German closely.
According to the newspaper Arsenal have followed Wirtz since he was a youngster at Cologne and remain huge admirers of him.
A move to England was ruled out by the youngster at the time but that is no longer the case as he now eyes clubs that can offer the prospect of winning the Champions League and the Ballon D’or.
Arsenal would fall into that category after their development under Mikel Arteta and their Premier League title challenge in the last two seasons.
For now, Wirtz is focused on Leverkusen and continuing to shine with them, something the 21-year-old is doing with little effort.
He’s already up to four league goals this season and scored twice in the Champions League last week as well. That was the first double by a German player on his debut in the competition.
That’s got Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City eyeing him up and Arsenal are ready to be a part of that mix too.
