Arsenal will have to change their strategy if they wish to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En Nesyri, with the Spanish side uninterested in a swap deal.
That’s according to La Colina de Nervion, who say Sevilla are completely uninterested in a swap deal involving Alexandre Lacazette.
They explain that the Gunners are keen on En Nesyri, who has impressed in La Liga in the last few years.
They wanted to sign him in the summer and put a proposal on the table that would have seen them, including Lacazette, to bring his price down.
It was a deal they were willing to offer again come January, but that is ‘no longer valid’ for the Spanish side as Lacazette is out of contract with Arsenal next summer.
Therefore, if they wanted to, they could negotiate with him from January onwards, meaning there is no value in them selling En Nesyri in a deal including the Frenchman.
There’s also the issue of the Africa Cup of Nations for Arsenal, who are likely unwilling to pay €50m for a player that they would then see ‘leave immediately’ for international duty.
Thus, a January move is looking unlikely at this point.
