Arsenal have Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga on their radar for the summer transfer window.
That’s according to today’s edition of Het Nieuwsblad, who explain the Gunners follow the midfielder ‘most intensively’.
Lokanga last signed his contract extension with the team led by Vincent Kompany in 2019 and prior to that, the north London club looked at him. However, Arsenal didn’t make an offer to take him away from Anderlecht.
Having failed to qualify for any European competition next season, Mikel Arteta’s side are now ‘looking for fresh blood’ and the 21-year-old is identified as a target.
The Belgium U21 international has made it to Roberto Martínez’s reserve list for Euro 2020 and participation in the UEFA tournament will increase his price tag.
Anderlecht are ‘hoping for the jackpot’ through their player’s sale, given his contract runs down in 2023.
The newspaper are of the belief a fee around €15-20m ‘seems the highest attainable’ for Lokonga, who is yet to represent his country.
Arsenal are the club who follow Lokonga ‘most intensively’ and it needs to seen if the Emirates club will convert this into an offer in the summer.
