On Monday, Calciomercato stated Riccardo Calafiori is one step away from joining Arsenal for a deal around €50m. It was also reported Bologna have left him out of the travelling squad for their pre-season training camp in Valles.
This is backed up by TuttoMercatoWeb, who state the Gunners are ‘almost there’ to seal the deal for the defender.
Calafiori joined the Serie A side from FC Basel in August 2023, and will leave them for Arsenal this summer.
Bologna have ‘practically closed’ an agreement with Mikel Arteta’s side. It’s claimed there will be a ‘definitive white smoke’ for the agreement between the two clubs in the ‘next few hours’.
Basel will be entitled to receive a percentage of the future sale, which, as per the report is around 40%. Bologna are still trying to find an agreement [likely to lower the percentage] with the Swiss club, and are confident of sorting this out in a ‘very short time’.
TMW claim this is the last detail that’s left for the Italian club to sanction the centre-back’s transfer to the Premier League side.
They add Arsenal are offering €40m plus €5m for Calafiori, which is less than what was reported by Calciomercato yesterday.
