Even though we’ve been reading a lot about Willian lately, there hasn’t been some clear information on the winger’s future.

The 31-year-old has only been saying it’s unlikely for him to stay at Chelsea, since they haven’t found an agreement for a contract extension. But the stories about the clubs who could sign him haven’t been very convincing so far.

However, in a report from the Brazilian media over the weekend, it’s been claimed that Arsenal are currently the ‘favourites’ to land the player.

Journalist Jorge Nicola says he’s been told by people who take care of Willian’s career that they’ve been treating the Gunners as the best option for now.

It’s claimed that the key man in these negotiations has been David Luiz, who left Chelsea to join Arsenal last summer. The defender has been reportedly working hard to convince Willian to take the same path.

Still, Jorge Nicola says it’s still early to confirm the move to Arsenal. There’s still a long way to go, even because Willian may have to stay longer at Chelsea to finish the season.

The journalist also confirms that Corinthians have made an approach for the player, but the Brazilian side know they can’t financially compete with European clubs.
