Arsenal fan favourite Nicklas Bendtner has been caught up in an unprovoked attack during a trip to New York.
The incident took place when the former Arsenal star an as yet unnamed compatriot were walking along a pavement in the American city and a stranger came from behind to attack the unnamed 55-year-old.
This made headlines, both in the US and in Denmark, and after a video of the incident surfaced online, many were quick to point out the 36-year-old former footballer in the video.
BT in Denmark got in touch with the ex-Gunners man to verify whether he was caught up in this scary situation. Bendtner hasn’t shared details of the incident, but he did confirm it was him in the video.
“Yes, I can confirm that. I have no comment on that. But I can confirm that it is me in the video. It’s hard to run away from,” he said.
According to the American media, the man who was walking along with Bendtner was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, where he was treated for ‘non-life-threatening facial injuries’.
They have also reported the stranger who launched an attack has been charged with attempted murder. Details of this incident which the ex-Arsenal striker was caught up are still unfolding.
