Arsenal were one of the first English clubs to be linked to William Carvalho, when the midfielder started showing his potential for Sporting CP back in 2013.
But it seems Arsenal are back in the chase, at least according to A Bola today. They claim the club have sent a scout to watch William during the Portugal’s latest games, and could be making an offer right after the end of the Confederations Cup.
A Bola considers that Arsenal would be quicker than West Brom and Manchester City to bid, even though these two clubs have been frequently linked to the midfielder in the past couple of months.
The newspaper says that Sporting may even sell the player for less than his €45m release clause, but the discount won’t be so big. At least €35m will be needed for the club to start negotiating with Arsenal or anyone else.
Is there any truth? It’d be no surprise if Arsenal have a scout watching Portugal at the Confederations Cup, but A Bola may have turned that into something it isn’t.
