Arsenal were one of the clubs who watched the ‘clássico’ between Porto and Benfica this weekend, which finished with a big win for the away side.
These scouting reports normally come from Portugal, but they’re brought by the Italian press today, as Tuttosport covers Juventus’ visit to Portugal.
The story is focused on Benfica midfielder João Félix, since the 19-year-old has once again impressed and scored the equaliser which led to the Eagles’ 2-1 comeback. Now the Lisbon side are top of the Portuguese league table.
Tuttosport doesn’t seem to know if the Gunners were really watching Felix, although they include them in the list of clubs who could be in the competition for the player.
João Félix is currently Portugal’s big sensation and Benfica are pretty aware of that.
That’s why they trust his €120m release clause to protect him, and keep saying he’s not leaving for less than that.
Arsenal may therefore have been on a mission to watch a different transfer target for the summer window.
