Much like Newcastle are using Everton’s scouts to do their dirty work, Arsenal appear to be doing something similar.
It could just be a coincidence, but both the Gunners and the Toffees have been linked to a couple of players together of late, with Adrien Rabiot among them.
The Frenchman is currently at Juventus, but the Serie A side could be interested in selling at the right price should a club come forward with an interesting offer.
He isn’t the only one who has caught the attention of the duo, however, as AS Saint-Étienne’s Wesley Fofana is also on their radar.
The young defender has been one of the breakthrough prospects under Claude Puel this year, and, much like William Saliba before him, could be heading to an English club soon.
But! Football Club in France have an exclusive on Friday explaining Everton asked about Fofana in January, and Arsenal have joined them since.
While the pair want Fofana, the player isn’t interested in permanently leaving just yet.
But! explain the 19-year-old wants to stay at Saint-Étienne at least another year before leaving, especially under a manager who has shown so much faith in him over the past few months.
Were he to leave, however, then England would be his ‘privileged destination’.
In fact, But! say it’s ‘England or nothing’.
That’s a big bonus for Arsenal and Everton, and perhaps the chance to do a deal like Saliba’s could present itself again, where Fofana stays in France for another year on loan after committing to a new club.
It’s unlikely, but it’s happened before, so there’s no ruling it out entirely.
