If there’s one thing everyone can agree on when it comes to Arsenal, it’s that they need a defensive midfielder.
Granit Xhaka isn’t exactly the right fit for the role and Mohamed Elneny, well, Arsène Wenger doesn’t seem to trust him all that much.
However, if you thought the Arsenal manager had forgotten all about his team’s needs, Calciomercato are here to remind you he hasn’t.
The problem is, Allan decided to stay at Napoli instead of toying with the idea of a move to the Emirates.
That’s what the Italian website are reporting on Friday, claiming the Gunners enquired about the Brazilian midfielder’s availability, but instead of replying favourable, he decided signed a new five year deal with the Serie A leaders to keep him there until 2023.
That, and Napoli consider him ‘unsellable’.
This summer is likely to be an interesting one for Arsenal as a whole, as a lot will rest on whether or not Wenger stays on as manager.
The fans, on the whole, don’t seem to want him there, but he’s certainly convinced himself he can still turn things around.
