Porto’s home league game against Moreirense on Sunday wasn’t very attractive for scouts from abroad, and Arsenal were the only English club to send representatives to the match.
As reported by Record, the Gunners were in the North of Portugal to keep an eye on André Silva and Danilo Pereira, two alleged long-time targets for the club.
Silva scored one of Porto’s goals in the 3-0 win. It’s the striker’s 16th this season, having an impressive ratio of a goal every 147 minutes.
After missing the last match due to suspension, Danilo got back into the team and didn’t have any difficulties in showing why he’s so important for them.
As always, he was capable of keeping the defensive balance and avoiding Moreirense’s dangerous plays.
André Silva has a €60m release clause, whilst Danilo’s is €40m.
Even though Arsenal are said to have been watching both for a long time, no bids were ever reported.
Arsene Wenger has a reputation of being hesitant in the transfer market, but there’s every chance the targets being picked out are simply guesses. When Arsenal were repeatedly scouting Porto last season it was claimed with confidence that Ruben Neves was the target, it seems to change to suit each flavour of the month.
