Arsenal are set to miss out on the signing of Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai, who has decided to join RB Leipzig instead.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the player is on the verge of announcing his move to the Bundesliga club.
Szoboszlai has been heavily linked with a move away from Salzburg for several months, having continued his fine form since joining the club in 2017.
Arsenal are one of those to have been heavily linked with his signature, with his agent Mátyás Esterházy confirming back in June that the Gunners reported interest in his client was ‘real’.
They are not the only side to have been linked with a move either, with Real Madrid also having been credited with an interest in recent weeks.
It appears they and Arsenal are set to miss out, though, with RB Leipzig having won the race for his signature.
Sky Germany report that the player is ‘about to jump’ to the German side, having decided to move after the conclusion of the Champions League group stages this week.
According to their information, ‘only the signature and very last details’ are missing from the move, with all parties having agreed on the transfer.
Indeed, Salzburg’s sports director Christoph Freund was in Leipzig this week to negotiate the deal, and all sides want to officially announced it before Christmas.
Szoboszlai has decided that Leipzig would be the ‘next logical step’ for his career and wants to continue his positive development under Julien Nagelsmann, who will add him to their Champions League squad after qualification to the knockout stages this week.
